Where did cocktails originate from?

The word cocktail has its origin in the English word “cocktail”, which literally means “rooster tail” although it has nothing to do with the mixing of drinks, some see similarities with the variety of colors in a glass.

According to the dictionary, the word cocktail is a mixture of liquor or other liquid and ice, and according to bartenders, it is a harmonious mixture of frozen drinks with ice and shaken inside a metal shaker.

The origin of this cocktail dates back to the 19th century, when a pharmacist named Antonio Peychaud in a drugstore in New Orleans offered his friends a drink prepared in egg cups following a recipe from the islands of his native land based on Cognac, sugar and spices. This drink and its preparation are called “Coquetier”.
